If you can already read basic Hangeul and make a few simple Korean sentences, you may be ready for Beginner Korean Lab instead.

No! Korean Jumpstart is designed for absolute beginners. You do not need to know Hangeul or have any previous Korean study experience.

You’ll learn how Hangeul works and begin sounding out Korean words on your own. Reading quickly and comfortably takes practice, but you’ll leave understanding the system and knowing how to continue practicing.

No. You’ll learn useful Korean patterns through speaking and practice rather than long grammar explanations. We’ll explain only what you need to start using Korean.

Both! The workshop is taught in person at The Foundry in Cambridge and live online at the same time. Choose the format that works best for you when you register.

Every Korean Jumpstart registration includes a 45-minute live online follow-up session on Thursday, November 19 from 8:00–8:45 PM ET. We’ll refresh Hangeul, practice your introduction and first conversation again, and answer questions.

Registrations are non-refundable. You may switch between In Person and Live Online up to 24 hours before the workshop, subject to availability. If IDOH cancels the workshop, you’ll receive a full refund. If IDOH reschedules and the new date doesn’t work for you, you may choose a refund or transfer your registration to another IDOH program.
